Mustang GTD Spirit of America
American Production Car Shatters 7-Minute Nürburgring Barrier
826 Horsepower Powerhouse Hits 202 MPH Top Speed
Ford has unveiled its latest masterpiece, the Mustang GTD Spirit of America, a jaw-dropping 826-horsepower beast redefining American muscle.
This extraordinary edition of the iconic Mustang car is turning heads globally, matching the performance of Europe’s finest supercars and cementing its place in automotive history.
American Muscle Cars’ New Venture
Since its 1965 debut, the Mustang has embodied American automotive pride with its thunderous V8 and patriotic red, white, and blue badging. The GTD variant now propels this legacy to unprecedented heights.
In a stunning feat, the Mustang GTD clocked a blistering 6:57.685 at the notorious Nürburgring Nordschleife, becoming the first American production car to break the elusive 7-minute barrier.
This achievement is a win for Ford and a declaration that American engineering can go toe-to-toe with the best European supercar makers. The “Spirit of America” edition is a rolling tribute to this milestone, embodying Mustang’s raw power and America’s unyielding spirit of innovation.
Engineering Excellence Unleashed
At the heart of the Mustang GTD Spirit of America lies a ferocious 5.2-liter supercharged V8, mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. This powertrain delivers an earth-shaking 826 horsepower and 663 lb-ft of torque, propelling the car to a top speed of 202 mph.
Ford’s engineers have left no stone unturned, incorporating a redesigned dry sump oil system for high-G cornering and standard semi-active dampers for razor-sharp handling.
The GTD performance package comes standard. It features extensive carbon fiber aerodynamic components that keep the car planted during high-speed runs.
A Design That Screams Speed
The exterior design pays homage to the original 1964 Mustang while catapulting it into the future.
A performance white base is adorned with race-red and lightning-blue twin racing stripes, inspired by Craig Breedlove’s iconic speed record suit.
Real carbon fiber is used from the aggressive front splitter to the prominent rear wing. The package also includes 20-inch magnesium wheels and eye-catching race-red brake calipers.
Cockpit Inspired Interior
Step inside, and you are greeted by an interior that could belong in a fighter jet.
The sports seats are wrapped in black onyx leather and Dynamica material.
The reentry white exterior trim complements a bold rrace-redgradient stripe down the center.
The victory blue accents and 3D-printed titanium components in the paddle shifters and badges elevate the cabin’s premium feel.
Jim Owens, the Mustang GTD brand manager, said the GTD represents the pinnacle of Mustang performance. He described the Spirit of America edition as a tribute to the bold vision that made this achievement possible.
He added that the Mustang GTD embodies the American ethos—the same spirit that drove pioneers like Breedlove to push boundaries and challenge the status quo. He emphasized that this is the DNA of the Mustang GTD.
While pricing details have yet to be announced, industry insiders expect the limited-edition Mustang GTD Spirit of America to exceed the standard GTD’s base price of $325,000.
This all-American supercar, set to debut at the 2025 Detroit Auto Show, is poised to challenge European luxury brands.
