
Audi revealed the specifications for its latest Q5 TFSI e, advancing the potential of plug-in hybrid technology.
This third-generation Q5 plug-in hybrid (PHEV) features a 26 kWh battery that enables up to 120 km (75 miles) of all-electric range. Combined with its gasoline engine, the total driving range exceeds 1,000 km (621 miles).
Hybrid Efficiency with EV-like Range

The new Q5 TFSI e is built on Audi’s Premium Platform Combustion (PPC). It’s optimized for both combustion and hybrid efficiency, emphasizing plug-in hybrid performance.
The 26 kWh high-capacity battery marks a significant upgrade from previous PHEV models. Based on WLTP standards, it enables up to 120 km (75 miles) of electric-only driving.
For many drivers whose daily commute is under 100 km (62 miles), this PHEV functions like an EV for everyday use.
Fast-Charging Capability Enhances Practicality

The charging speed is impressive. The battery can charge from 10% to 80% in just 25 minutes using a fast charger. This allows drivers to recharge during short breaks, increasing daily practicality.
Performance Meets Long-Range Efficiency

The Q5 TFSI e has a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine, a powerful electric motor, and a 7-speed S tronic transmission.
Depending on the trim, the total output reaches 295 or 360 horsepower, offering performance superior to typical SUVs. The total driving range exceeds 1,000 km (621 miles) with fuel and electric power. This addresses one of the main challenges EVs face—limited charging infrastructure—while preserving the long-distance reliability of internal combustion engines.
Flexible Drive Modes Cater to Varied Driving Needs

This flexibility is especially valuable in markets where long trips are made every day, but charging infrastructure is still growing. Drivers can use EV mode for city driving and switch to hybrid mode for extended travel, adjusting for efficiency as needed.
