The Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet has undergone a radical transformation at the hands of German tuner Mansory. The newly revealed P9LM Evo 900 Cabriolet delivers performance-focused upgrades and bold exterior changes, sparking global attention and debate. While some praise the technical improvements, others argue that the styling strays too far from Porsche’s established design language.

Mansory’s modifications extend well beyond cosmetic updates. The car includes significant powertrain enhancements, extensively forged carbon components, and a customized interior. However, using purple accents, a reshaped steering wheel, and vivid styling details has drawn criticism, with some describing it as even tacky.

Powerful Performance, Divisive Design

Based on the Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet, the P9LM Evo 900 includes a large turbocharger, 98 mm (3.86 inches) downpipe, recalibrated ECU, and a water-cooled intercooler. These changes boost the car’s output to 888 horsepower and 1,050 Nm (774 lb-ft) of torque, bringing it into hypercar territory.

The exterior changes are even more radical. At the front, forged carbon splitters, intake covers, and louvers create a bold first impression. The side profile features wide fenders and extended side skirts, while the rear adds a fixed wing and oversized diffuser. Purple-painted center-lock wheels (21 inches front, 22 inches rear) further emphasize the car’s custom look. Though inspired by the GT3 RS, critics say the mix of elements and colors feels disjointed.

The interior features white leather and carbon bucket seats. Purple seatbelts and contrasting stitching are intended to add a premium feel, but the uniquely shaped steering wheel and color scheme have received mixed feedback. Despite using quality materials, the interior design has been described as lacking cohesion.

Controversy in the Tuning World

The P9LM Evo 900 Cabriolet has sparked mixed reactions online. Many critics on social media and automotive forums argue that the extensive modifications undermine Porsche’s design heritage. A few commenters even said the car is unrecognizable as a Porsche.

On the other hand, some viewers regard Mansory’s work as an expression of tuning freedom. However, these opinions appear to be in the minority.

While the P9LM Evo 900 impresses in performance, its divisive design highlights the challenges of balancing customization with brand heritage. The model reflects the ongoing discussion among Porsche fans about innovation and staying true to core design values.
