Land Rover and its sister brand, Jaguar, have long been associated with the luxury car market. The same parent company owns both brands. While Jaguar recently underwent a major rebranding, including a shift towards electric vehicles, Land Rover has maintained its position as a leader in the luxury SUV sector. The brand’s vehicles are known for their unparalleled luxury, off-road capabilities, and rugged charm, but what if Land Rover entered the sedan market?

Range Rover Sport-based sedan
Clearly different from coupe-type SUV

SRK Designs, a YouTube channel specializing in automotive virtual rendering, has released an imaginary drawing of a modified model based on the Land Rover Range Rover Sport. The Range Rover Sport is a derivative of Land Rover’s flagship SUV, characterized by a shorter body and sporty design. This drawing shows a crossover that mixes different genres into the SUV.

A typical crossover combination is a coupe SUV, which many automakers already sell. However, the Range Rover Sport in the rendering catches the eye with its unique form, combining a sedan with an SUV.

It features the elements of a genuine sedan
What will the rear end look like?

At first glance, the rendering may resemble a coupe SUV, but it incorporates distinct sedan features upon closer inspection. The roofline remains straight up to the C pillar, typical of SUVs, but the transition to the trunk area is more characteristic of a sedan, with a clear boundary between the rear window and the trunk lid. This suggests that the design includes a traditional sedan trunk rather than a liftback, often seen in hatchback or SUV models.

Although the rendering does not fully reveal the vehicle’s rear end, it would likely feature design elements from the existing Range Rover Sport, such as the distinctive tail lamps with black high-gloss accents, a centrally placed model name, the license plate positioned on the bumper, and dual twin exhausts with a rear diffuser.

Sedan-style SUVs are already hitting the market as online discussions heat up

The idea of a sedan SUV crossover isn’t entirely new, as some models on the market have already explored this concept. For example, Toyota’s Crown crossover and Peugeot’s 408 blend sedan and SUV features into a single vehicle. Kia’s K4, a compact vehicle sold in North America, is also categorized as a sedan-style SUV crossover.

While it’s unclear if Land Rover will ever pursue this concept in real life, the idea has certainly captured the imagination of automotive enthusiasts.
