Jeep announced on Thursday that it will launch the updated Jeep Gladiator next month.

The brand analyzed that interest in premium leisure activities has significantly increased, particularly among luxury explorers, a growing segment seeking unique and expensive adventures. Jeep also noted that the new Gladiator aims to attract these adventurers with its powerful performance and distinctive sense of adventure.

Jeep recently noted the rapid growth in the premium leisure market. Sales of high-end, professional-grade products priced in tens of thousands of dollars have sharply risen. According to the Korea Coast Guard, registrations of leisure boats, including yachts, have increased by 2,000 to 3,000 annually since 2018, surpassing 38,000 total registrations by the end of 2023.

Luxury explorers value functionality, brand identity, and emotional appeal that match their preferences. Jeep positions the Gladiator as an optimal choice because, unlike typical SUVs, it offers a separate cargo space. This lets users conveniently carry large outdoor equipment like surfboards, kayaks, and diving gear. Its excellent towing capacity also easily handles most boats and yachts.

The Gladiator is the segment’s only convertible pickup truck, providing a refreshing open-air driving experience. Its removable hardtop and foldable windshield allow various configurations tailored to individual lifestyles, offering outdoor enthusiasts enhanced satisfaction from closer interaction with nature.

The Gladiator’s capability for leisure activities originates from its powerful drivetrain. It is equipped with a 3.6L Pentastar V6 gasoline engine generating a peak output of 284 horsepower and a maximum torque of 36 kg·m (260 lb-ft), paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Its extended wheelbase provides stability during towing, and the reinforced chassis prevents sagging, accommodating heavy loads like yachts, trailers, and caravans without difficulty.

This update also improved leisure-activity safety features. The Gladiator features a high-strength steel chassis designed to disperse collision impacts effectively. Side curtain airbags provide passenger safety even on challenging terrains. It also uses Corning Gorilla Glass, which enhances durability against external impacts like flying stones. The vehicle also includes advanced safety technologies like Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), blind-spot monitoring, and rear parking assistance, further ensuring driver and passenger safety.
