Cadillac’s high-performance lineup, the V-Series, is being transformed to fit the electric vehicle era.

Recent spy shots have captured the 2026 Optiq-V, which is expected to be positioned below the Lyriq-V, which is scheduled to be launched this year.

The Lyriq-V is known to start at $79,990, and the Optiq-V is likely to be priced lower than that.

Cadillac’s iconic V-Series, known for its high-performance models, is transforming to adapt to the electric vehicle (EV) landscape. Recent spy shots have revealed the upcoming 2026 Optiq-V, a performance variant expected to sit below the Lyriq-V, slated for release this year. With the Lyriq-V starting at $79,990, the Optiq-V is anticipated to come in at a lower price point, targeting a broader market while maintaining the high-performance edge Cadillac enthusiasts expect.

A More Aggressive Design for the Performance SUV

The Optiq-V prototype, captured in camouflage, shows several key design changes from the standard Optiq model, enhancing its sporty and aggressive appeal. At the front, a new bumper design and mesh grille insert bring a more athletic appearance, similar to the Lyriq-V’s aesthetic upgrades. The lower bumper also features a subtle front lip spoiler, likely improving the vehicle’s aerodynamics for a performance-focused edge.

Side-profile modifications are equally significant, including larger 21-inch wheels and the addition of a more powerful braking system. Given that the Lyriq-V features front disc brakes 2.8 inches larger than the base model, it’s expected the Optiq-V will have similarly enhanced brakes, emphasizing its performance capabilities.

Sporty and Sleek at the Rear

The rear of the Optiq-V showcases a larger mid-mounted rear spoiler and a sportier bumper design. The cladding at the bottom of the body has been refined, adding a sleek, sophisticated touch that sets the Optiq-V apart from its base sibling, giving it a more streamlined and aggressive look.

This is an increase of 215 horsepower (160 kW) compared to the base model of the Optiq, and overall performance is expected to be significantly improved.

Of course, we must wait for Cadillac’s official announcement of the exact output figure. Still, it is expected to provide faster acceleration and dynamic driving performance as expected from the V-series.

Competing in the High-Performance Electric SUV Market

The Optiq-V, slated for a 2026 launch, will enter a fiercely competitive electric high-performance SUV market, challenging models like the Tesla Model Y Performance, BMW iX M60, and Audi SQ8 e-tron. The key question will be whether Cadillac can maintain the V-series’ signature performance traits in an electric vehicle while offering a distinct driving experience from traditional internal combustion engine models.

As the performance electric SUV segment heats up, all eyes will be on how the Cadillac Optiq-V positions itself in this market. It’s shaping up to be a highly anticipated entry into the world of high-performance electric SUVs.
