As electric vehicles become more widespread, the auto parts industry is also quickly seeking change. In this context, Hankook Tire & Technology announced on Wednesday that it will release the iON Evo Formula E Edition, a performance tire exclusively for electric vehicles. This tire is a product specifically designed for the performance trim of the Tesla electric sports utility vehicle (SUV) Model Y, and will be sold exclusively online.

Hankook Tire’s iON Evo Formula E Edition is a high-performance tire developed to match the characteristics of electric vehicles, and was created through collaboration with the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, an international electric vehicle racing competition. This competition is considered a measure of the advancement of electric vehicle technology and is positioned as a venue to showcase the latest technology.

A Hankook Tire official emphasized that the product was developed to reflect innovative technologies and elevate the brand’s premium image, with the goal of leading the paradigm shift in future mobility. The official noted that the tire offers performance optimized specifically for the Tesla Model Y Performance trim. They also stated that a limited quantity will be available exclusively on T-Station.com starting on the 21st, offering customers the opportunity to experience the product firsthand.

As the spread of electric vehicles increases, the role of tires is also becoming more important. Electric vehicles have different characteristics from existing internal combustion engine vehicles, so the development of dedicated tires tailored to them is essential. In line with these market demands, Hankook Tire is strengthening its lineup of electric vehicle-specific tires, and plans to further increase its competitiveness in the global market through the launch of the iON Evo Formula E Edition.
