Mercedes-Benz introduced the third-generation CLA in Rome. This model is the first to feature the new MMA platform, which supports both electric and internal combustion powertrains. The electric version was unveiled first.

The latest CLA offers a more spacious interior and improved ride comfort than its predecessor. The exterior design is simplified, incorporating an illuminated radiator grille and daytime running lights. The interior features the MBUX Superscreen, enhancing vehicle control with a more intuitive interface.

The newly revealed CLA includes two electric powertrain options. The CLA 250+ has a single rear-axle motor producing 272 horsepower and 335 Nm (247 lb-ft) of torque. Its WLTP-rated range is 694 to 792 km (431 to 492 miles) per charge. The CLA 350 4MATIC has a dual-motor setup, generating 354 horsepower and 515 Nm (380 lb-ft) of torque. Its WLTP-rated range is 672 to 771 km (418 to 479 miles) per charge.

This model is the first to use Mercedes-Benz’s MMA platform for compact vehicles, which accommodates both electric and internal combustion engines. The 800-volt architecture enables the CLA 250+ EQ to gain up to 325 km (202 miles) of range with just a 10-minute charge. A 48-volt mild hybrid version, which aims to improve fuel efficiency and reduce carbon emissions, is planned for release later this year.

The CLA debuts Mercedes-Benz’s MB.OS operating system, which incorporates AI from Microsoft and Google. This system adapts to driver habits, offering personalized services and natural voice-activated controls. It also supports over-the-air software updates to keep the vehicle’s features current.

Safety and driving performance have been enhanced. The latest driver assistance systems provide improved lane-keeping, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. The optimized weight distribution enhances cornering ability, while adjustments to the suspension improve overall ride stability.

Mercedes-Benz has not yet announced the release date or pricing for the domestic market.
