Advanced Electrification and Battery Technology

The electric version of the CLA is built on technology developed through Mercedes-Benz’s VISION EQXX project, which focused on maximizing energy efficiency and driving range. Mercedes claims the new CLA will offer class-leading performance comparable to existing ICE models, including competitive charging speeds.

The CLA will feature multiple battery options, including:

  • Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) Batteries – Cost-effective and known for long lifespan and safety.
  • Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) Batteries – High-performance batteries offering greater energy density.
  • Cylindrical Batteries – Enhanced durability and improved manufacturing efficiency.

Mercedes has also reduced battery production costs by around 30% compared to the previous generation while increasing energy density and extending battery life. These improvements will strengthen the CLA’s position in the competitive EV market.

The ICE model, equipped with a 48V mild hybrid system, has also been fine-tuned for better fuel efficiency and driving performance. This strategy allows Mercedes to cater to markets transitioning to EVs at different paces, offering a smoother shift from combustion engines to electric models.

AI-Powered MB.OS Redefines the Driving Experience

One of the CLA’s standout features is its AI-driven operating system, MB.OS, a proprietary platform developed by Mercedes-Benz, integrates and controls all vehicle functions, from infotainment and driving assistance to charging management and in-cabin comfort.

The system learns the driver’s behavior patterns, providing personalized recommendations and adjusting vehicle settings based on driving habits. Through over-the-air (OTA) updates, MB.OS continuously evolves, improving performance and adding new features even after the vehicle has left the factory.

Self-Driving Technology and Autonomous Features

The new CLA also introduces significant advancements in autonomous driving. MB.OS integrates sensors and actuators to enhance self-driving performance, with the long-term goal of achieving fully autonomous driving. Continuous upgrades are planned to align the system with evolving regulations and technological advancements.
