An SUV suddenly crashed into a motor show venue in Shenyang, China. One nearby spectator was injured in the accident.

According to People’s Daily and other sources, the accident occurred on April 13 during a motor show held at the Shenyang Industrial Exhibition Hall in Liaoning Province, China.

In the video shared online that day, a black SUV parked at the exhibition hall suddenly started to move, then changed direction abruptly, pushing a visitor and crashing into several other vehicles before stopping. One visitor was injured and four nearby exhibition vehicles were damaged as a result of this accident.

The video of the accident quickly circulated online, prompting viewers to raise questions such as why the exhibition vehicle had moved and why the automatic emergency braking system (AEB) had failed to activate. Many users noted that AEB had been a key selling point for the company, expressing disappointment that the system appeared to fall short in practice.

On April 14, the company explained that the vehicle had not been in exhibition mode, which led to the engine starting accidentally. It also stated that the injured visitor sustained only minor bruises and was discharged from the hospital on the same day.

The company further clarified that the automatic emergency braking (AEB) system did not activate because the driver was not wearing a seat belt and the steering wheel was being heavily operated, meaning the conditions required for the AEB to function were not met.
