Tesla recalls 46,096 Cybertrucks in the United States due to a vehicle’s exterior trim flaw.

As The Verge reported on Thursday, this recall affects all Cybertrucks produced between November 13, 2023, and February 27, 2025. Around 1% of these vehicles are estimated to have defective trim.

Tesla has temporarily halted Cybertruck deliveries to address an issue with trim panels that may detach while the vehicle is in motion. According to a notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the defect affects the cant rail, an external decorative component secured using adhesive. It is prone to weakening under environmental stress.

Since its debut in December 2023, the Cybertruck has undergone eight recalls, including a previous one due to trim panel issues in the truck bed. The latest defect was flagged by multiple owners who reported the problem directly to the NHTSA.

As of March 14, Tesla has documented 151 warranty claims related to this issue. Although no accidents, injuries, or fatalities have been reported, the company cautions that detached panels could pose a serious safety hazard to other motorists.
