Consumers are buzzing about claims of over 20km/L (approximately 47mpg) fuel economy. This vehicle, which has steadily climbed the sales charts without flashy marketing, is Kia’s compact hybrid sport utility vehicle (SUV), the Sportage Hybrid.

With cumulative sales reaching 10,075 units through April, the Sportage Hybrid is making waves in the hybrid market with its cutting-edge technology and impressive efficiency.

Futuristic Design and Spacious Interior

The Sportage Hybrid commands attention with its Tiger Nose grille and distinctive daytime running lights (DRL). Its profile is enhanced by geometric-pattern wheels, while the rear boasts light-emitting diode (LED) taillights and a wide bumper for a cohesive look.

Inside, a panoramic curved display integrates a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and navigation system, creating a high-tech ambiance.

Premium materials and ambient lighting elevate comfort, complemented by heated and ventilated seats for all passengers, dual-zone climate control, and an air purifier.

With dimensions of 4,685 mm (approximately 184.4 in.) in length, 1,865 mm (approximately 73.4 in.) in width, and 1,660 mm (approximately 65.4 in.) in height, plus a 2,755 mm (approximately 108.5 in.) wheelbase, the Sportage Hybrid offers generous interior space, earning high marks for practicality.

From Fuel Economy to Features: Driver Satisfaction Peaks

The Sportage’s trump card is its fuel efficiency. A 1.6-liter turbocharged gas engine paired with an electric motor delivers 230 horsepower and 35.7 kg.m (approximately 258.4 lb-ft) of torque. EPA-estimated fuel economy is 16.3 km/L (approximately 38.3 MPG) combined for two-wheel drive (2WD) models and 15.2 km/L (approximately 35.7 MPG) combined for all-wheel drive (AWD) versions.

Some drivers even report that it easily tops 20km/L (approximately 47mpg) just by turning off the heater. Advanced driver assistance systems are equally impressive. Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA 2), navigation-based smart cruise control, and Lane Following Assist 2 take the stress out of long drives.

Forward and blind-spot collision avoidance assist come standard, while upper trims add luxe features like fingerprint authentication, a digital key, and a hands-free power liftgate.

Competitive Pricing, Rich Features

The entry-level Prestige trim (22,900 USD) includes LED headlights, a smart key, an electronic parking brake, and ventilated/heated front seats as standard.

Step up to the Noblesse trim (approximately 25,900 USD) for a 12.3-inch navigation system and heated rear seats. The Signature trim (approximately 27,800 USD) adds a head-up display, digital key, and driver’s seat memory. The range-topping Signature X-Line (approximately 28,200 USD) stands out with 19-inch black wheels, black suede interior accents, and unique exterior styling. Optional upgrades like a premium audio system, built-in dashcam, and LED lighting package further elevate the experience.
