BMW ix2 eDrive20 Rolls Out — 204 HP, 217-Mile Range, and Fast Charging

BMW Korea announced that it will launch the new ix2 eDrive20, a coupe-style electric vehicle (EV) SUV, following the release of the all-wheel-drive electric sedan i5 xDrive40 earlier this week. The ix2 is the first pure electric Sports Activity Coupe (SAC). The model features an elegant coupe-like SUV silhouette and a dynamic exterior, which combines a unique design with an eco-friendly EV powertrain.

The ix2 eDrive20’s front end features sleek adaptive LED headlights and the brand’s signature kidney grille. A large air intake in the lower bumper creates a bold appearance.

The rear design includes a sleek roofline and a rear spoiler. 19-inch double-spoke wheels and M-specific side skirts enhance the model’s sporty look.

The interior uses advanced digital technologies and emphasizes a futuristic style. A curved display integrates a 10.25-inch digital cluster and a 10.7-inch control display. A floating armrest, which incorporates the gear selector and control panel, increases spatial efficiency.

BMW equipped the model with an M sport leather steering wheel and new two-tone vegan sport seats for a sportier driving experience. The dashboard features a simple yet refined design. Driver comfort is enhanced by features including a BMW head-up display, wireless charging pad, and Harman Kardon sound system.

The ix2 eDrive20 has the fifth-generation electric drivetrain. The front-mounted single motor produces 204 horsepower and 25.5 kg·m (188 lb-ft) of torque. The model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds.

A 64.7 kWh lithium-ion battery provides a range of up to 350 km (217 miles) per charge. Energy efficiency is rated at 4.8 km/kWh (3.0 miles/kWh). Charging options include 11 kW AC charging and up to 130 kW DC fast charging. Fast charging from 10% to 80% takes about 29 minutes.

Driving Assistant Professional is included as standard and offers advanced driver assistance features. These include adaptive cruise control, front and rear collision warnings, lane keeping, and change assist. Parking Assistant Plus can detect spaces and park the vehicle automatically. The system also includes a Reversing Assistant that retraces the last 50 m (164 feet) driven. The ix2 eDrive20 includes surround view and 3D view features that provide a 360-degree view of the vehicle’s surroundings, making it an appealing choice.

The ix2 eDrive20 runs on BMW OS 9. The infotainment system provides real-time traffic information and suggests routes based on battery status.

BMW Korea offers the new ix2 eDrive20 with the M Sport Package as standard, which costs 64.7 million KRW ($44,000). While the model may not deliver the highest performance, it is expected to secure a unique position in the EV market through its latest electric technology and distinctive coupe-style SUV design.
