Mercedes-Benz is again drawing attention with a model combining lifestyle and practicality. After unveiling the new CLA sedan, news surfaced that the Shooting Brake version will soon be released. With its larger rear cargo space, the Shooting Brake maximizes interior utility while maintaining a sleek sedan-like design, making it an attractive option for families.
The third-generation CLA Shooting Brake is developed on Mercedes-Benz’s latest MMA platform and is considered a key model in the brand’s lineup of compact luxury vehicles. It is designed with electrification in mind and features the same front design as the sedan, with a sportier rear silhouette.

Shooting Brake Keeps Sedan Design
Adds Practicality
The CLA Shooting Brake maintains the sedan’s sleek design while enhancing practicality. The roofline smoothly extends over the rear window after the C-pillar, and the rear hatch and expanded trunk space offer significantly better cargo capacity than the sedan.
Like the sedan, the side profile remains sleek and streamlined. While the window shape and door silhouette are unchanged, the longer rear overhang creates the signature Shooting Brake look. The rear features horizontal taillights and bumper design, ensuring design consistency.
The sedan’s body dimensions are expected to be similar. The vehicle is 4,723 mm (186 inches) long, 1,855 mm (73 inches) wide, 1,468 mm (57.8 inches) high, and has a wheelbase of 2,790 mm (109.8 inches). Built on the MMA platform and designed with electrification in mind, the Shooting Brake holds promise for maximizing interior space.

MMA Platform with Electrification
Hybrid and Electric Powertrains Offered
The third-generation CLA will be built on the MMA platform and available in hybrid and electric models. The hybrid version will be the main powertrain option, offering a system output of up to 300 horsepower.
Battery technology has also been improved. Based on WLTP standards, the electric model will offer a range of 771 km (479 miles), while the hybrid model is expected to balance efficiency and performance. This approach reflects Mercedes-Benz’s strategy to adapt its premium brand identity to the electrification era, moving beyond internal combustion engines.
The Shooting Brake version will be revealed in September and is expected to be priced slightly higher than the sedan. This model will likely appeal to consumers seeking a combination of luxury and family practicality, making it a strong alternative.
