An SUV that uses both gasoline and electricity and can travel up to a staggering 1,673 kilometers has been unveiled. It boasts fuel efficiency of 17.6 km per liter, comes with premium features as standard, and is priced lower than the Genesis GV80.

Developed jointly by China’s Chery Automobile and Huawei, Luxeed’s R7 EREV is gaining attention as a practical next-generation vehicle that blurs the line between electric and internal combustion engines.

Outstanding Range and Fuel Efficiency

The Luxeed R7 EREV addresses the key downsides of traditional EVs (inconvenient charging) and internal combustion vehicles (disappointing fuel economy). Adopting an EREV (Extended Range Electric Vehicle) structure, it primarily runs on electricity but uses an engine to generate additional power when needed.

According to the latest Ultra trim specifications, it can travel up to 331 km purely on electricity, and up to 1,551 km when combined with gasoline power. Under specific conditions, this range extends to 1,673 km—well beyond what most mid-sized sedans can achieve. Its combined fuel economy reaches 17.6 km per liter, placing it among the most efficient SUVs in its class.

Premium Features Come as Standard

The vehicle is designed as a fastback-style crossover SUV with a drag coefficient of 0.219, enhancing high-speed stability. Its overall size is comparable to the Hyundai Palisade, offering generous interior space.

At the heart of the R7 EREV is Huawei’s cutting-edge technology. Equipped with Huawei’s autonomous driving platform, Qiankun ADS, the vehicle supports not only highway driving but also automatic parking in urban environments. A total of 26 sensors and a 192-line roof-mounted LiDAR system allow for precise control.

Inside, premium features come standard. The vehicle includes a 15.6-inch rotating display and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

All trims feature a panoramic sunroof along with ventilated, heated, and massage seats. Especially noteworthy is the front passenger seat, which includes a zero-gravity recliner and leg rest, offering comfort on par with a business-class airplane seat.

Cheaper Than GV80, Farther Than the Palisade

What stands out most is its pricing. The R7 EREV starts at around 23,900 USD, with even the top-tier trim staying below 43,500 USD.

An industry insider noted that since Hyundai has yet to enter the EREV market, Luxeed has gained a clear early advantage in both technology and pricing.

For consumers torn between hybrid and electric vehicles, the R7 EREV could become the new standard.
