Tesla has launched sales of the Model Y Long Range RWD in the United States. This new entry-level variant, following a design refresh earlier this year, is priced at 45,000 USD.
According to Electrek, Tesla initially offered the updated Model Y exclusively in a Long Range AWD configuration after its release earlier this year.
Tesla first introduced a fully loaded launch edition priced at 60,000 USD. Last month, they began deliveries of the standard Model Y AWD, starting at 49,000 USD. Industry analysts suggest that as order volumes declined, Tesla strategically decided to introduce the RWD model to stimulate demand.
The new trim boasts an impressive range of 357 miles, surpassing its AWD model by 30 miles. However, the switch to a single-motor powertrain has slightly increased the 0-60 mph acceleration time from 4.6 to 5.4 seconds. Tesla plans to commence deliveries of the Model Y RWD in the United States within the next 3 to 5 weeks.
