The luxury SUV market is entering a new era as electrification gains momentum. Land Rover’s Range Rover Electric merges traditional luxury with modern EV engineering, capturing global attention ahead of its late 2025 launch.

Tradition Reinvented with Advanced EV Tech

Based on the fully redesigned Range Rover, this electric model shares the MLA-Flex platform with its combustion-engine counterparts but integrates key EV-exclusive upgrades.

Its 117 kWh battery, composed of 344 prismatic cells in a dual-layer layout, enables a WLTP-estimated range of over 500 kilometers (311 miles). The vehicle also supports 800V charging architecture and 350kW ultra-fast charging, significantly improving practicality.

A newly designed thermal management system minimizes heat loss. Land Rover recently confirmed that this system remained stable during tests in 50°C (122°F) desert conditions in the UAE. According to the company, the EV outperformed internal combustion models while climbing sand dunes, aided by precise torque distribution and enhanced traction.

Undeniably a Range Rover – But Electric

The dual-motor all-wheel-drive system generates over 530 horsepower, matching the power of a V8 engine.

Integrated with Land Rover’s electronic terrain response system, one-pedal driving enables nuanced control in off-road and dynamic conditions. Body control speed is said to be 100 times faster than previous models, maintaining performance in extreme scenarios.

Inside, the cabin preserves Range Rover’s signature luxury while emphasizing the quiet, smooth ride unique to electric vehicles.

GV90 vs. Range Rover Electric: A Matter of Philosophy

Often mentioned in the same conversation as the Genesis GV90, the Range Rover Electric offers a different vision of the electric luxury SUV.

The GV90, expected in early 2026, will be built on Hyundai’s dedicated eM EV platform and introduce standout features like a high-performance dual-motor system and rotating seats.

Where the Range Rover Electric draws from off-road heritage and traditional prestige, the GV90 leans toward futuristic functionality and cutting-edge interior concepts. This contrast reflects technical differences and diverging brand philosophies, offering consumers two compelling choices.

Though it enters the market quietly, the Range Rover Electric is positioned as more than just an EV – a symbolic successor that honors the brand’s identity while moving it forward.

Its proven performance in harsh environments and commitment to design continuity position it to set a new standard in the luxury EV space.
