BYD’s premium brand, Denza, introduced the Denza N9 Black Warrior Edition to the full-size SUV segment. This updated version retains the same performance capabilities as the standard N9 but features an all-black exterior finish designed to give the vehicle a more distinctive appearance.

Commanding Size, High Output

The N9 Black Warrior Edition is 5,258 mm (207 inches) long, 2,030 mm (79.9 inches) wide, 1,830 mm (72 inches) high, with a wheelbase of 3,125 mm (123 inches). It is larger than vehicles such as the Kia Carnival and Hyundai Staria. Its 925-horsepower output and spacious interior place it among the highest-performing cars in its class.

Hybrid Powertrain Delivers Range and Responsiveness

Although the Black Warrior Edition has a unique name, it uses the same powertrain as the standard N9. The SUV combines a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with three electric motors and a 46.9 kWh Blade battery, delivering 925 horsepower. The electric motor setup offers instant torque, while the hybrid system allows a total driving range of 1,300 km (808 miles).

Interior: Premium Comfort Meets Tech-Driven Utility

The interior is equally impressive, featuring a sliding refrigerator between the front seats, a large display, and seats that convert into beds. The six-seat configuration, featuring individual second-row seats, aims to deliver comfort like a premium shuttle. Despite these high-end features, pricing remains consistent with the standard N9, ranging from 389,800 to 449,800 CNY (approximately $61,000 to $70,000).

Advanced Safety and Driver Assistance Technology

Driver assistance features are also included. BYD’s Goddess Eye ADAS system provides advanced safety functions, including night-time automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and forward collision prevention. The vehicle also offers automated parking in diagonal, vertical, and parallel configurations, catering to users who may be less familiar with handling large vehicles.

BYD Expands Premium Footprint with Z9 GT Reveal

In a parallel announcement at the 2025 Seoul Mobility Show, BYD showcased another premium offering under the Denza brand—the Z9 GT. This large electric wagon combines a low-slung coupe silhouette with aerodynamic enhancements, including a prominent rear spoiler. Positioned as a performance-oriented EV, the Z9 GT highlights BYD’s push to broaden its appeal in the high-end electric vehicle segment.
