Peugeot officially launched its new 5008 hybrid in the Australian market.
The new 5008 is available with two powertrain options: a 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine paired with a 48V mild hybrid system and a plug-in hybrid combining a 1.6L gasoline engine with a high-output electric motor, producing a total of 195 horsepower.
Three-Cylinder Engine Features Mild Hybrid Technology

The new Peugeot 5008 has a 1.2-liter, three-cylinder, turbocharged gasoline engine paired with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission, generating a maximum output of 136 horsepower.
The 48V mild hybrid system in the new 5008 hybrid provides an additional 21 horsepower and 38 lb-ft (5.2 kgm) of torque during acceleration through its integrated electric motor. This setup also allows for brief all-electric driving at low speeds.
The vehicle’s 0.9 kWh lithium-ion battery enables up to 50% of urban driving in electric mode. Fuel efficiency is estimated at 5.5 to 6L/100km.

The plug-in hybrid variant combines a 1.6L gasoline engine with a high-output electric motor, delivering 195 horsepower and an estimated all-electric range of 77 km (47.8 miles) based on WLTP standards.
Design and Features Emphasize European Premium Quality

The new Peugeot 5008 is built on Stellantis’s STLA Medium platform. The vehicle is 4,791 mm (188.6 inches) long, 1,694 mm (66.7 inches) high, and has a 2,901 mm (114.2 inches) wheelbase.
This model is available in five- and seven-seat configurations. It is slightly smaller overall than the Hyundai Santa Fe but boasts a wheelbase that is 86 mm (3.4 inches) longer, providing generous interior space.
The interior features Peugeot’s latest 21-inch panoramic i-Cockpit display, supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Premium materials, including aluminum accents and recycled fabrics, enhance interior quality. The latest driver assistance systems come standard.
Luxury features include adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go functionality, front and rear parking sensors, an optional 360-degree camera, and a hands-free power liftgate, reinforcing its positioning in the European premium segment.

The new Peugeot 5008 in Australia starts at AUD 55,990 (approximately $33,660), slightly higher than the Santa Fe hybrid’s AUD 55,500 (approximately $33,320) starting price.
