Mercedes-Benz unveiled the new 2026 S-Class sedan, drawing strong interest from the automotive industry.

This latest model maintains the well-established reputation of the luxury flagship sedan while introducing advanced autonomous driving technology and a redesigned infotainment system.

The Level 3 autonomous driving system, Drive Pilot, has received significant upgrades to deliver a true hands-free driving experience.

Its upgraded Drive Pilot system is a standout feature of the 2026 Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

This advanced system uses more than 35 sensors—including LiDAR, ultrasonic sensors, radar, and cameras—and incorporates a redundant safety architecture. It also relies on a high-precision positioning system and digital maps for centimeter-level lane accuracy.

Previously limited to speeds below 60 km/h (37 mph) on congested German highways, the system now supports autonomous driving up to 95 km/h (59 mph). However, it still maintains a cap of 60 km/h (37 mph) in city traffic.

Although currently available only in Germany, the system is expected to expand to other markets pending regulatory approval. Mercedes-Benz also plans to introduce teal-colored turn signals to indicate when the Drive Pilot mode is active.

The 2026 S-Class features the newest MBUX infotainment system with integrated ChatGPT AI, enabling natural language interactions, information retrieval, and voice-activated commands.

In addition to voice control, users can access real-time news, manage schedules, and receive entertainment recommendations. A new Entertainment Package Plus enhances rear-seat comfort with YouTube streaming and access to Sony Pictures Entertainment’s RIDEVU platform.
