Xiaomi’s automotive division is making waves in the Chinese market. According to Electrek, it has delivered an impressive 200,000 EVs in just 119 days.

Since its spin-off from its parent company in 2021, Xiaomi’s automotive sector has been on a meteoric rise. In March 2024, the launch of its debut model, the SU7, saw over 50,000 orders flood within the first 27 minutes. Current reports suggest a staggering waitlist of at least 30 weeks for deliveries.

Xiaomi initially set a production target of 60,000 units, but the overwhelming demand for the SU7 forced the company to ramp up operations. In 32 days following the SU7’s launch, the company churned out 10,000 EVs, a testament to its manufacturing efficiency and aggressive expansion strategy.

Xiaomi’s founder has announced plans to double EV production this year compared to last. With the recent milestone of 200,000 deliveries and surging sales in China, the company has revised its 2025 target to 350,000 units.

Meanwhile, the industry giant Tesla appears to be experiencing some turbulence. According to the New York Stock Exchange, Tesla’s stock closed at $225.31, down 5.34% from the previous day. This follows a 4.79% drop the day before, marking two consecutive days of decline for the EV giant.
