JLR Korea is set to launch a new seven-seater gasoline-powered version of the Defender 130, featuring captain’s chairs in the second row to enhance interior versatility. This latest offering redefines luxury off-roading, combining supreme comfort with practical design to create memorable family experiences.

Versatile Interior Design

The new Defender 130 seven-seater maximizes interior space utilization, delivering optimal comfort for long trips and daily use. The second row features captain’s chairs with individual armrests and wing-type headrests, providing a spacious feel and high comfort. These 14-way power-adjustable independent seats include heating and cooling functions for year-round convenience. The third row offers 47.2 inches (1,200 mm) of width, 31.6 inches (804 mm) of legroom, and generous headroom, allowing adults to sit comfortably. Improved aisle access enhances convenience, while the 13.7 cubic feet (389 L) of trunk space with all seats up maintains practicality. The 40:20:40 split-folding seats allow for various cargo configurations, expanding to 81.1 cubic feet (2,291 L) when the second and third rows are folded, making it ideal for camping or outdoor adventures.

Premium Materials and Refined Finish

The updated interior preserves the Defender’s distinctive character while incorporating premium materials for a more refined and upscale feel. The signature cross-car beam features a metallic gray powder coat finish, complemented by Windsor leather and Kvadrat upholstery in Ebony or Caraway. A suede-cloth headlining further enhances the premium ambiance.

Powerful Performance

The Defender 130 offers strong performance both on and off-road. Building on 77 years of heritage, it combines traditional Defender capabilities with modern design cues, creating a bold presence. Its extended profile, featuring a pronounced hood and three-dimensional front grille, seamlessly blends rugged design with excellent performance.

The Defender 130 P400 X-Dynamic HSE seven-seater has a 3.0-liter I6 gasoline engine with mild hybrid technology. A twin-scroll turbocharger and 48V supercharger enable it to generate 400 horsepower and 406 lb-ft (56.1 kg·m) of torque. The vehicle accelerates from 0 to 60 mph (0-100 km/h) in 6.6 seconds, combining smooth performance with strong power.

Off-Road Capabilities

Built on Land Rover’s lightweight aluminum monocoque D7x architecture, the Defender 130 boasts a maximum torsional rigidity of 21,405 lb-ft/degree (29,000 Nm/°). Despite its extended length, short overhangs enable a 37.5-degree approach angle and a 28.5-degree departure angle, making it capable of handling various terrains. The electronic air suspension can adjust ground clearance by up to 5.7 inches (145 mm), adapting to different conditions. With a 35.4-inch (900 mm) wading depth, it excels in extreme off-road situations. The adaptive dynamics system works with the air suspension, analyzing road conditions in real time for precise body control. A twin-speed transfer box and an electronically active rear locking differential enhance its off-road capabilities, providing optimal traction in challenging environments.

Technology and Features

The Defender 130 has an 11.4-inch curved glass touchscreen that runs the latest Pivi Pro infotainment system, providing intuitive controls and sharp graphics. A 12.3-inch interactive driver display provides clear navigation guidance, and software over-the-air (SOTA) updates ensure the vehicle stays current without requiring dealer visits. Advanced features include a 3D surround camera, ClearSight ground view, adaptive cruise control, and an in-cabin air purification system, all of which contribute to a premium driving experience.

The new Defender 130 P400 X-Dynamic HSE seven-seater, which includes a five-year service plan, is priced at 150,270,000 KRW (approximately $103,686). It can be purchased through Land Rover’s online store; additional details are available on the official Defender website.
