Futuristic Exterior with Advanced Lighting Features

One of the vehicle’s most striking features is its innovative exterior lighting, which creates a distinctly futuristic atmosphere. LG Innotek’s Nexlide lighting module serves multiple purposes, including providing basic visibility, welcoming passengers, and signaling the vehicle’s autonomous driving status. The lighting also incorporates smart film technology and pixel lighting, allowing for versatile displays such as pixel patterns, lines, and surfaces that adapt to different driving conditions.

This advanced lighting system enhances the vehicle’s safety features, illuminating and serving as a signal transmission system. The sleek black high-gloss exterior finish further complements the vehicle’s sophisticated, cutting-edge appearance.

Interior: LG Innotek’s Core Components and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems

The interior of the vehicle is equipped with core components of LG Innotek. This allows visitors to directly check the components’ specific mounting locations and operating methods. These include camera modules for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), lidar, DC-DC converters, second-generation charging communication controllers, and the industry’s first 800V wireless battery management system, Nexlide, developed by LG Innotek.

In particular, the newly released high-performance in-cabin camera module can check the driver’s condition in real time through a 5-megapixel high-resolution camera. It is equipped with an RGB-IR infrared sensor and helps prevent situations such as when the driver falls asleep or does not focus properly on driving. The camera inside is ultra-small, minimizing space loss, and it can check whether the seat belts of the driver’s seat, the second row and passengers are fastened.

In addition, a high-performance heating camera module to prevent frost from forming on the external camera lens in temperatures as cold as -20 degrees Celsius (-4 degrees Fahrenheit) and an all-weather camera solution with a dust cleaning function were also released. The module can remove ice from the lens in just one minute at -20 degrees Celsius (-4 degrees Fahrenheit) and various foreign substances, providing convenience in securing a field of vision and driving through the camera.

The Alpha-able Concept: A New Vision for Autonomous Interiors

Alongside the autonomous EV, LG also renewed interest in the Alpha-able concept car, first unveiled at CES 2024. Designed to redefine in-car living, the Alpha-able concept features an interior equipped for both driving and relaxation. A display on the steering wheel provides essential driving information, while an OLED ceiling display allows passengers to enjoy games or movies during autonomous driving.

The vehicle’s innovative features include a swivel first-row function, which enables the driver to face the second-row passengers in autonomous mode. The steering wheel retracts when not in use, enhancing the vehicle’s flexibility. Additional features like a built-in refrigerator and a rest-friendly environment with customized temperature, humidity, and lighting settings make the Alpha-able more than just a means of transportation.

Moreover, the Alpha-able concept includes a self-sterilizing system that activates once the journey is completed, sending the vehicle to a “refresh station” for cleaning and charging. This design aims to transform the car into a relaxing space, blurring the lines between travel and leisure.
