An ultra-rare Aston Martin DBR22 speedster, one of just 22 globally produced, has surfaced in the international auction market. This limited-edition high-performance roadster generates significant interest among collectors and supercar enthusiasts, particularly because it is up for auction and has been customized with special specifications.

The DBR22 incorporates a modern reinterpretation of classic design elements inspired by the past DBR1 and DB3S models. However, this particular auction vehicle stands out even further with its custom specifications, featuring the team colors used by Aston Martin during the 2022–2023 Formula 1 (F1) season. This unique version of the DBR22 holds additional rarity and symbolic value. The expected auction price is approximately 2.4 million USD.

F1 Heritage Collector’s Edition

The DBR22 featured in this auction is more than just a high-performance sports car; it’s a piece of art. The exterior is finished in a custom Aston Martin Racing Green 2022/2023 color, matching the exact paint tone used on Aston Martin’s F1 team cars during the 2022–2023 season. Exposed carbon fiber accents, sleek black alloy wheels, and eye-catching lime green trim details further amplify the visual impact.

The performance is equally impressive. Equipped with a 5.2L V12 twin-turbo engine, the car produces 715 horsepower. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in just 3.4 seconds, reaching a top speed of 319 km/h (198 mph). Its fully open design, with no roof or windshield, offers unparalleled openness, allowing the driver to experience the thrill of true performance driving.

The DBR22 was created by Aston Martin’s Q by Aston Martin division as a bespoke model for select customers. With only 22 units available worldwide, its exclusivity further enhances its value. The auctioned car reflects the brand’s racing heritage and is a historical symbol of Aston Martin’s legacy.

From bespoke paint to carbon fiber: A masterclass in automotive presence

News of this DBR22’s auction listing sparked significant interest in automotive communities globally. While some highlight its value as a collector’s item, others note its high price and practical limitations, such as the lack of a roof.

Some admired Aston Martin for successfully incorporating F1 design elements into the car, noting that it was the first time they had seen such a stunning design linked to the brand’s F1 heritage. Collectors also expressed strong interest, with many commenting that they would love to display the car in their garage and maintain it daily if they had the financial means.

The auction of the DBR22 is likely to be viewed not merely as a car transaction but as a significant event reflecting the brand’s history and legacy. With its limited production, unique paint finish, and Aston Martin’s performance heritage, this distinctive vehicle could become a lasting collectible for its owner.
