Mercedes-Benz’s G-Class STRONGER THAN THE 1980s edition generates interest among car enthusiasts worldwide.
This limited edition model reinterprets the original 1980s G-Class W460 and the legendary off-roader 280 GE in a modern light. It combines retro design with the latest technology, offering a nostalgic appeal that feels like a journey through time.
Only 460 units of this edition will be produced, and it will be available for the first time at select dealerships in the U.S. in the second half of 2025.
G-Class: A Legend Reborn

At a glance, it’s clearly “retro.” The exterior colors include classic hues loved in past G-Class models, including Manufaktur Agave Green, Cream, and Colorado Beige. Adding orange turn signals, a black-finished radiator grille, flared wheel arches, and side mirrors amplifies the vintage appeal.
The rear features a spare wheel cover, one of the original components from the 1980s, while the hood’s blue background with a laurel wreath Mercedes emblem symbolizes respect for the classic model.
The 18-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels, finished in silver, create a strong contrast and stand out prominently. The PROFESSIONAL roof rack, mud flaps, and all-terrain tires are standard, ensuring the vehicle’s powerful off-road capabilities.
Interior: A Modern Take on Nostalgia

The interior is also filled with details that evoke the original G-Class. The seats feature Dove Gray fabric inserts with a checkered pattern, and the phrase “STRONGER THAN THE 1980s” is engraved on the passenger-side grab handle. Additionally, the door sill panels are embossed with the terrain of the Schöckl Mountain, where the G-Class underwent its tests.
A limited edition “1 of 460” plate is mounted on the center console, highlighting its collectible value, while the “Schöckl Proved” badge is placed on the lower B-pillar, clearly marking the vehicle as a heritage model.
As expected from the modern G-Class, its performance is outstanding. The 3.0-liter 6-cylinder gasoline engine with a 9-speed automatic transmission delivers up to 443 horsepower. It also comes standard with a premium sound system and advanced driver-assistance features.
This Is the G We’ve Always Loved

One G-Class enthusiast praised the vehicle, calling it the car they had always dreamed of and stating that Mercedes truly nailed it. Another fan expressed excitement, predicting that this version would continue to sell due to its exceptional reception.
Someone who had previously worked as a Mercedes dealer shared how the car reminded them of the nostalgic days when only the silver star logo was seen on the vehicle, saying that this model brought back those cherished memories.
The Mercedes G-Class STRONGER THAN THE 1980s is not just a car; it’s a masterpiece that combines timeless design, cutting-edge technology, and the brand’s pride.
Many people are eagerly waiting to own one of the legendary 460 units.
