Volkswagen’s U.S. division released detailed pricing and specifications for the new Tiguan, signaling the start of its sales campaign. The U.S.-spec Tiguan is based on the long-wheelbase variant sold in Europe as the Tayron. Unlike the previous Tiguan Allspace, this model is only a five-seater with no third-row seating.

Standard features include Volkswagen’s Digital Cockpit Pro with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.9-inch infotainment display. Other base equipment includes a leather steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, and wireless smartphone charging.

The vehicle also includes standard key ADAS features, like adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assistance. Higher trims add all-wheel drive, a 15-inch infotainment display, Harman Kardon premium audio, and tri-zone climate control.

Additional premium options include 10-point massage front seats, quilted stitching, 30-color ambient lighting, and parking assistance systems.

The base price starts at $29,495, and the top trim costs $39,755. This represents a $615 increase from the previous generation.

Key Innovations and Performance Upgrades

The new Tiguan’s exterior includes a redesigned front with LED headlamps, a longer wheelbase, and shorter front and rear overhangs that enhance interior space. The U.S.-spec Tiguan is 4,800 mm (189 inches) long with a 2,791 mm (110 inches) wheelbase, similar to the Kia Sorento. Cargo capacity ranges from 345 liters (12.2 cu ft) to 2,090 liters (73.8 cu ft).

Power comes from a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine that now produces 204 hp (201 hp U.S. spec), up by 17 hp from the previous model. It is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and is offered in front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD).

Interior features include a 12.9-inch touchscreen and a 10.3-inch digital instrument panel. Optional upgrades include 19-inch wheels, a panoramic sunroof, front and rear parking sensors, and a blind-spot warning system.

Volkswagen may introduce a plug-in hybrid version of the Tiguan in the future. This addition would expand the lineup and offer more options for buyers interested in electrified powertrains.
