Tesla, the electric vehicle (EV) market leader, is making a notable impact in the automotive industry with the official launch of the Model Y Juniper in South Korea.

On April 2, Tesla Korea officially began accepting orders for the new Model Y Juniper. Developed under the codename Juniper, this vehicle is a significantly updated version of the existing Model Y, with comprehensive changes to its exterior and interior.

The most appealing aspect for consumers is the competitive pricing. With subsidies applied, this upgraded electric SUV is just under 40 million KRW (approximately $27,000), making it an attractive option for design and functionality.

Futuristic Exterior, Enhanced Interior Luxury

The new Model Y Juniper immediately impresses with its futuristic design. Sleek lines flow from the front to the taillights, complemented by a redesigned bumper that enhances aesthetics and aerodynamic efficiency.

Stealth Gray is the standard color, and premium options, including Pearl White, Deep Blue, Ultra Red, and Quick Silver, are available for an additional cost.

Buyers of the Launch Series can select one of the premium exterior colors at no additional cost, which is expected to increase satisfaction among early buyers.

Wheel options vary by trim level. The base rear-wheel drive (RWD) model has 19-inch wheels, while the Launch Series has 20-inch wheels. Long-range all-wheel drive (AWD) buyers can choose between the two sizes.

The interior boasts premium materials for a luxurious feel. Black is the standard color, with white available as a paid option.

Alcantara and high-quality fabric finishes cover the dashboard and other areas. New ambient lighting and ventilated front seats further elevate the interior ambiance.

The Launch Series features exclusive badging on the door sills, the console, and the puddle lamps for added distinction.

Enhanced Ride Quality and Rear Passenger Comfort

Passenger comfort is significantly improved. The second-row seats now offer power-folding functionality, while larger seats and headrests enhance overall comfort. Increased legroom compared to the previous Model Y is a noticeable passenger upgrade.

A new 8-inch rear display allows back-seat passengers to enjoy movies, music, and other media content.

Bluetooth headset compatibility and rear climate controls add convenience, especially appealing to families.

The overall driving performance is also improved. Suspension tuning provides a smoother ride, while improved sound insulation enhances cabin quietness. A more intuitive driving interface boosts driver satisfaction.

The RWD variant offers up to 400 km (248.5 miles) of range and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in 5.9 seconds.

Long Range AWD and Launch Series models achieve up to 476 km (295.8 miles) of range and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in 4.8 seconds. All trims have a top speed of 201 km/h (124.9 mph) in 4.8 seconds. All trims have a top speed of 201 km/h.

The Tesla Model Y Juniper draws significant attention due to its pricing strategy.

The RWD Model Y costs 52.99 million KRW (approximately $36,000). The Long Range AWD costs 63.14 million KRW (approximately $43,000), while the feature-rich Launch Series is 73 million KRW (approximately $50,000).

Industry analysts commented that this competitive pricing could accelerate EV adoption rates.
