Audi introduced a compelling new entry amid the electrification war among German premium brands. The new A5 e-hybrid, combining powerful performance and sleek design, is now in the spotlight.
On March 26, Audi revealed the first model in its new plug-in hybrid lineup: the A5 e-hybrid.
The new A5 e-hybrid can drive up to 110 km (68 miles) on electric power alone and delivers up to 367 horsepower. Its fully redesigned exterior and interior are generating excitement among consumers.
68-Mile EV Range with Class-Leading Performance

The A5 e-hybrid will be available in two output variants. The base model delivers 300 horsepower, while the high-performance version offers 367 horsepower. Acceleration from 0 to 60 mph takes 5.9 seconds in the base model and 5.1 seconds in the high-performance variant, with a top speed electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph).
A key highlight is its 25.9 kWh high-voltage battery. It enables a WLTP-rated electric range of 110 km (68 miles), positioning it among the top performers in the PHEV segment.
According to Audi, this battery offers 45% higher energy density than the one in the existing A6 PHEV and ensures more usable range in real-world driving.
The charging speed is also competitive. It supports 11 kW AC charging, which allows a full charge from 0% to 100% in approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Smart Regenerative Braking and Driving Modes

Audi didn’t stop at upgrading the drivetrain for the A5 e-hybrid. The model features predictive regenerative braking.
It analyzes navigation routes and traffic data to optimize braking stages. Drivers can also manually adjust regeneration levels using paddle shifters.
The car offers two main driving modes: EV and Hybrid. In EV mode, the vehicle operates solely on electric power. In Hybrid mode, the engine and electric motor work together to optimize performance and efficiency.
In Hybrid mode, the system optimizes energy usage based on route and terrain data, enhancing differentiation from previous PHEV models.
Launch Timeline and Availability

The A5 e-hybrid opened for European pre-orders on March 27, with deliveries starting in April.
In Germany, the sedan version starts at €62,500 (approximately $68,000), while the Avant (wagon) version begins at €64,150 (approximately $70,000).
