Tesla Roadster 2 Delays Drag On — Is It Worth the Wait?

Tesla made headlines in 2017 with the announcement of Roadster 2, which was slated for a 2020 release. However, the production timeline remains uncertain.

According to a recent TechRadar report, the Roadster 2 is set to be a performance powerhouse, boasting a 0-60 mph acceleration time of just 1.9 seconds. What’s even more impressive is that it’s expected to offer a range of 620 miles on a single charge.

Tesla is currently taking reservations for the standard model, which is priced at $200,000. Meanwhile, the exclusive Founders Series—limited to just 1,000 units—requires a hefty $250,000 deposit. Interestingly, if a reservation holder had invested their Roadster deposit into Tesla stock at $21 per share in 2017, that investment would now be worth a staggering $3 million.

Tesla has not disclosed the total amount raised from Roadster 2 deposits, and the final price tag for the next-generation model remains unknown for when it eventually does hit the market.

Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) package has been scrutinized in other news. Due to legal challenges, the automaker has rebranded it as “autonomous driving under supervision.” However, Tesla’s strict no-refund policy on FSD purchases has sparked controversy from both consumers and industry experts.
