Ride-sharing platform Lyft is partnering with Mobileye, a leader in autonomous driving technology, to launch a driverless robotaxi service in Dallas, Texas, starting in 2026.

On Monday, Lyft CEO David Risher shared on X that customers will soon be able to hail rides in vehicles equipped with Mobileye’s cutting-edge self-driving technology.

Risher revealed that Japanese automotive and financial powerhouse Marubeni will supply the robotaxi fleet.

After launching the service in Dallas, Lyft plans to expand thousands of vehicles to additional cities.

Risher highlighted Marubeni’s impressive portfolio, noting that the company manages over 900,000 vehicles through various subsidiary partnerships and has seen significant growth in its auto finance division year-over-year.

The market reacted positively to the announcement, with Lyft’s stock surging to 7.2%. Mobileye shares also skyrocketed by 18%, boosted by a Bank of America (BofA) stock rating upgrade.

This move underscores Lyft’s determination to stay competitive in the rapidly evolving autonomous mobility landscape. It follows the company’s earlier announcement of a partnership with May Mobility to deploy hybrid Toyota Sienna minivans in 2025.
