The Taycan is Porsche’s four-seat electric sports car. The GTS is a high-performance trim between the S and Turbo. It produces a maximum of 605 horsepower and a maximum torque of 80.6 kg.m. It can accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.3 seconds.

Porsche’s latest challenge occurred on the Porsche Arctic Center Ice Track in Levi, Finland, about 150 km (93.2 miles) north. The Porsche Experience team created a 59-meter (194-foot)- diameter drift circle for the record.

The Taycan also underwent some tuning. It was equipped with Michelin tires with 1 mm (0.04 inches) spikes to secure a grip. It was also equipped with professional measuring equipment to record measurements accurately. This equipment recorded driving data such as GPS measurements, driving distance, driver steering wheel operation, acceleration and braking, and G-force.

Porsche Experience Instructor Jens Richter took the wheel. He continued the challenge despite the drift damaging the ice track earlier than expected.

As a result, he maintained the drift for laps using only throttle and steering interventions. The total distance was 17.503 km (10.9 miles), breaking the previous record of 14.809 km (9.2 miles).

Richter said, “With our new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title on ice, the Taycan has once again proven its sideways driving qualities,” and added, “And this time even with all-wheel drive. The fact that the Taycan GTS can be controlled so well even under extreme conditions speaks volumes for its excellent chassis and balanced performance.”

With this record, Porsche now holds four Guinness World Records. Previous Records include the longest drift in 2020, the fastest drift in 2021, and the largest altitude change in 2023.
