One of the famous American automobile magazines, Road & Track selected IONIQ 5 N as the best car in the Under 100,000 USD category at 2025 Performance EV of the Year Award.
Road & Track’s Performance Electric Vehicle of the Year Award is known for its rigorous judging on public roads and circuits. This year, the evaluation took place over four days on the winding roads of the Delaware River Valley in New York State and the New York Safety Track, and a total of seven vehicles, including the IONIQ 5 N, participated.The IONIQ5 N easily passed the evaluation, beating out strong competitors such as the Acura ZDX Type S, BMW i5 M60 xDrive, Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally, and Tesla Model 3 Performance, which are sold in the U.S. for less than 100,000 USD. The victory was decided during the track lap, as it presented the judges with amazing driving fun, with a time of 1 minute 37.8 seconds, the only time in the 1 minute 30 seconds range.
Daniel Pund, editor-in-chief of Road & Track, backs up this sentiment, saying that the IONIQ 5 N is the type of EV they’ve been wanting to see since they started their Performance EV of the Year Awards. He noted that while all the EVs in the roundup were fast, none were as fun to drive as the IONIQ 5 N.
