Hyundai’s compact SUV, the Tucson, is setting new sales records in Canada. Selling over 2,000 units per month for seven straight months, the model continues to gain traction among Canadian consumers.

Hybrid models play a key role in this growth, reflecting the rising demand for eco-friendly vehicles.

Hyundai sold 9,200 vehicles in Canada in February, a 6.5% increase from the previous year. The SUV lineup drove this growth, with the Tucson leading the way. Hyundai sold 2,421 units in Tucson, an 8.7% increase year over year, reinforcing its status as a core model for the brand. The Kona and Elantra also contributed to Hyundai’s solid position in the Canadian market.

Hybrid Models Show Strong Growth with a 17.5% Increase

Hybrid models continue to gain popularity. Last month, Hyundai sold 440 Tucson hybrids, a 17.5% increase from the previous year. This trend reflects the growing preference for eco-friendly vehicles among Canadian consumers.

Hyundai sold 45,159 electrified vehicles in Canada last year, a 31.5% increase from the previous year. This includes 25,334 battery electric vehicles (BEVs), 3,584 plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), and 16,241 hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs).

SUV Strategy Strengthens Hyundai’s Market Position

Hyundai is reinforcing its SUV-focused strategy in Canada. The Tucson-led approach helped the company maintain its position as the fourth-ranked automaker in the country.

With government incentives for electric vehicles declining, pure EV sales have slowed slightly. However, hybrid and electrified models have compensated, sustaining Hyundai’s growth in the Canadian market.

Hyundai operates over 250 dealerships across Canada and continues to expand its eco-friendly vehicle portfolio.

If this strategy continues, Hyundai’s market share in Canada is expected to grow further.
