The Toyota Corolla has long maintained its position and legacy in many overseas markets, such as Europe, Southeast Asia, the United States, and China. As the Toyota brand’s representative hybrid sedan, the Corolla, which has already launched 12 generations of models, is said to be about to launch its 13th generation model.

The next-generation Corolla is scheduled to be introduced in the Japanese and American markets in 2026, and a plug-in hybrid version is also expected to be released. In addition, the existing sedan, touring, and sport variant models will continue as is. Although the prototype or new model has not been revealed yet, a virtual rendering of the next-generation Corolla was recently released overseas.

Sleek, Hammerhead Styling and Modern Features

The released rendering shows that the next-generation Corolla’s overall appearance resembles the Camry’s. In June 2022, the facelift model was launched exclusively for the Chinese and Southeast Asian markets, and its design resembled many aspects of the Camry at the time. However, since the Camry was redesigned last year if the design is shared, Toyota’s latest design elements are expected to be applied.

One of the biggest changes is the application of Toyota’s hammerhead style. The straight daytime running lights are integrated with the bonnet parting line and have a hammer shape. At the front, a horizontal grille connects to the daytime running lights. At the bottom, a long air intake and a diamond-shaped pattern are applied along the bumper.

Futuristic Tail Lamps and Light Bar

The headlamps and voluminous body panels are placed on the side of the bumper, and the area surrounding them is finished in high-gloss black. The shape of the front fender, connected to the bonnet line, gives a unique impression. As for the side, no significant changes have been made while maintaining the existing sporty proportions.

On the rear, the tail lamp area has been expanded. It has become a straight line, and the end has become sharper. Also, a light bar has been placed between the tail lamps to create a futuristic look. The black trim on the bumper has expanded the area compared to before, and the reflector has been integrated accordingly, changing its position horizontally.

Interior Updates: A Digital Overhaul
Performance Upgrades and Plug-In Hybrid Powertrain

The interior renderings have also been released. The basic interior design has been maintained, but changes have been made mainly to the dashboard. The crash pad’s shape, which continues with the curve, is the same, but the digital cluster has been placed, and a larger display is connected to it. The air vents in contact with the display have been separated and become longer horizontally.

Meanwhile, the newly introduced plug-in hybrid specification is expected to be equipped with two electric motors on Toyota’s next-generation 1.5-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine. The engine is known to produce 128 horsepower in a naturally aspirated form, and the turbocharged version makes 178 horsepower. Expectations are high for the next-generation Corolla, as it is expected to produce powerful power with dual motors.
