Lexus’s flagship hybrid sport utility vehicle (SUV) is quietly revolutionizing the market. The RX350h is challenging the notion that luxury SUVs must be large and heavy.

The real-world fuel efficiency of 15.6 km/L (approximately 36.7 mpg) has particularly stunned traditional large SUV owners. The 2025 RX350h Luxury trim combines a 2.5-liter gasoline engine with an electric motor in its hybrid system, delivering practicality, performance, and quietness in one package.

Quiet Driving, Smooth Sensation

The RX350h’s true character emerges at ignition. Unlike conventional vehicles’ roaring starts, the RX awakens silently, enveloping passengers in a smooth, aquatic-like sensation. In urban environments, the electric motor takes charge. The vehicle responds seamlessly to the driver’s inputs, whether at stoplights or in traffic. Even when the gasoline engine engages, the transition is imperceptible.

High-speed cruising showcases impressive quietness. Closing the windows creates a cocoon-like atmosphere, amplifying the luxury car experience. One owner raved that it offers Mercedes E-Class ride quality with BMW 5 Series handling, and the interior luxury surpasses both. The quietness at high speeds is remarkable, and its thoroughly impressed with the spaciousness, fuel efficiency, and seat comfort.

SUVs Enter the Fuel Efficiency Era

While the official combined fuel economy is 13.6 km/L (approximately 32 mpg), real-world tests yielded even better results. A mix of city and highway driving achieved an impressive 15.6 km/L (approximately 36.7 mpg). Some drivers reported that with careful driving, exceeding 20 km/L (approximately 47 mpg) seems achievable.

Driving enjoyment isn’t compromised. The RX350h offers substantial yet smooth handling, while its adaptive suspension absorbs road imperfections, minimizing body roll even on challenging surfaces. On slippery roads, the electronic all-wheel-drive system optimally distributes power to the rear wheels, ensuring stable cornering.

A Fully-realized SUV

Actual owners rate the RX350h highly. It averages 9.6 out of 10. It scored perfectly in fuel efficiency and quality, with 9.6 for design, 9.4 for driving dynamics, 8.5 for value, and 9.9 for livability.

Despite 21-inch wheels, ride quality garnered praise. The premium interior materials prompted comments such as best vehicle under 80,000 USD. The RX350h has also earned accolades in the U.S. market. In 2014, U.S. News & World Report named it the Best Car for Families, while Lexus consistently wins awards for durability and resale value. Value-conscious luxury SUV shoppers should seriously consider the RX350h.
