BYD, one of China’s top electric vehicle manufacturers, is stepping up its global game by launching two new models: the Han L sedan and the Tang L SUV. Built on the brand’s new 1000V Super e-Platform, both vehicles introduce next-level fast-charging capabilities, enabling over 400 kilometers (248.5 miles) of range with just five minutes of charging.

According to CLTC standards, both models offer ranges between 600 and 700 kilometers (373 and 435 miles). Each vehicle features BYD’s new Eye of God B advanced driver-assistance system, which supports highway, urban, and automated parking functions.

Han L: Big Sedan, Big Battery, Bigger Numbers

The Han L features a large body, 5,050 mm (198.8 inches) long with a 2,970 mm (116.9 inches) wheelbase, combining spaciousness and stability. This model is built on BYD’s flagship technology, the 1000V high-voltage architecture, and has an 83.2 kWh Blade battery. It delivers a full charge in under 20 minutes and a 400 km (248.5 miles) range in five.

The performance is also impressive. The rear-wheel-drive model offers a top output with a 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) time of 5.5 seconds and a maximum driving range of 701 km (436 miles), while the all-wheel-drive high-performance model provides a 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) time of 2.7 seconds and a driving range of 601 km (374 miles). Using dual charging ports simultaneously significantly reduces charging wait times, offering an optimized option for long-distance drivers and those utilizing high-speed charging infrastructure.

Additionally, the hybrid model combines a 1.5-liter turbo engine with an electric motor, achieving a pure electric driving range of 200 km (125 miles) and a total range of 1,400 km (870 miles). All trims come equipped with BYD’s autonomous driving assistance system, Eye of God B, meeting the standards for advanced safety technology.

Tang L: A Smart SUV with Space—and a Drone

Targeting the large SUV market, the Tang L is comparable in size to the Hyundai Palisade. The vehicle is 5,040 mm (198.4 inches) long, 1,996 mm (78.6 inches) wide, and 1,760 mm (69.3 inches) tall. It uses a 100.53 kWh second-gen Blade battery, with the RWD variant offering up to 670 km (416.4 miles) of range. With the drone system installed, AWD versions offer 600 km (372.8 miles) or 560 km (347.9 miles). It also features a high-speed charging function that allows for a 370 km range with just a 5-minute charge.

One of the most unique features is the drone storage system installed on the roof. With the press of a button, the drone can be launched and fly up to 2 km (1.24 miles), supporting live traffic feeds, parking assistance, and status updates via integration with the vehicle’s autonomous platform. This technology is entertaining and offers practical, smart functionalities that can be helpful in everyday driving.

The interior maintains the luxury SUV standard. The 7-seat configuration (2+3+2) includes the front seats’ heated, ventilated, and massaging functions. Folding the second and third rows provides up to 1,960 liters of cargo space. A 15.6-inch rotating display, AR heads-up display, wireless charging pad, and a center console refrigerator are the impressive convenience features included as standard. The DiLink 5.0 infotainment system also offers vehicle control and entertainment, enhancing the driving experience.
