BYD’s sub-brand FCB (Fangchengbao) officially introduced the Tai 3, the first mass-produced model in its Tai lineup. The vehicle is offered in five trims. The price starts at 133,800 CNY (approximately 19,500 USD), which is lower than its pre-order price of 139,800 CNY (approximately 20,400 USD). Despite high-end features and unique add-ons, the pricing remains remarkably competitive.

The Tai 3 targets the domestic Chinese market and international markets. It delivers size, performance, and feature sets comparable to premium SUVs—yet remains competitively priced alongside compact EVs. Compared to Genesis’s GV60 (starting at 52,350 USD), the Tai 3 offers more interior space and equipment at less than half the price.

Refrigerator, Drone, and More: Tech-Focused Interior

One of the Tai 3’s most innovative features is its integrated drone system, a first for electric vehicles. Developed with DJI, the Lingyuan system enables the roof to open and launch the drone when the vehicle stops or travels under 25 km/h (15.5 mph). The drone includes a 4K dual camera and automatic video editing, which is ideal for capturing travel footage and scenic drives.

The vehicle’s iATS system automatically adapts to different terrains, such as grass, snow, and mud. It also includes TSC (Tire Stability Control), which allows the car to travel up to 80 km/h (50 mph) for 30 km (18.6 miles) even with a flat tire on one wheel.

The interior features a 50W fast wireless charging pad and a built-in mini refrigerator. The off-road-inspired cabin features physical buttons, a chunky gear selector, a large 15.6-inch central screen, and a 12-inch heads-up display for a refined yet rugged experience.

Larger and More Affordable Than the GV60

The Tai 3 is 4,605 mm (181.3 in) long, 1,900 mm (74.8 in) wide, and 1,720 mm (67.7 in) tall, or 1,930 mm (76 in) with the drone dock. Its wheelbase is 2,745 mm (108.1 in), making it notably larger than the Hyundai GV60 (length 4,545 mm (179 in), width 1,890 mm (74.4 in), height 1,580 mm (62.2 in)). Cargo space includes a 151-liter (5.3 cu ft) front trunk and a 28-liter (1 cu ft) external rear storage compartment.

The powertrain is available in rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD). The AWD model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in just 4.9 seconds and has a top speed of 201 km/h (125 mph). The Tai 3 has a 78.72 kWh blade battery, which supports fast charging from 30% to 80% in 18 minutes, making it convenient for daily use.

Most importantly, with a base price of about 133,800 CNY (19,500 USD), the Tai 3 disrupts the market with value-packed features like drone functionality and a fridge, rarely offered even in luxury EVs. It further strengthens the growing reputation of Chinese EVs as high-value contenders in the global market.
