LEGO’s Drivable F1 Cars Debut at Miami Grand Prix—Yes, They Actually Drive

LEGO Group unveiled 10 full-size LEGO F1 race cars in collaboration with Formula 1, all fully drivable.

This project forms part of a multi-year partnership between LEGO Group and F1. It marks the first time LEGO created multiple full-size, drivable cars.

LEGO Group previously launched the LEGO Speed Champions F1 Series with mini versions of race cars from 10 F1 teams. Now, these models have been scaled to 1:1 size and equipped with driving technology, allowing them to reach speeds of up to 20 km/h for a nearly real car experience.

A team of 26 experts, including designers and engineers, worked over 22,000 hours on this groundbreaking project. Each vehicle uses about 400,000 LEGO bricks and weighs 1.5 tons. The team sponsor logos and Pirelli tire logos were meticulously recreated, resulting in a design resembling a real F1 car.

The LEGO F1 race cars were unveiled on Sunday during the Miami Grand Prix driver parade in Florida. F1 drivers for the 2025 season drove the LEGO F1 cars on the track, creating a unique scene.

LEGO Group plans a global tour with full-size LEGO F1 race car displays at upcoming Grand Prix events, allowing children and families to experience the excitement of F1 up close. Schedules and locations will be available on the official LEGO website.

Julia Goldin, LEGO Group’s Chief Product and Marketing Officer, stated that LEGO has always explored new possibilities. She added that through this project, a true embodiment of creativity and innovation, they hope more people experience the endless possibilities of LEGO bricks.

Emily Prazer, F1’s Chief Commercial Officer, stated that F1 pushes boundaries. She added that the collaboration with LEGO will offer another source of enjoyment for F1 fans and expressed a commitment to continued partnership.
