Mazda has officially confirmed the production launch of its highly anticipated Spirit Racing Roadster, transitioning from a concept car to a full production model. This announcement has stirred excitement among car enthusiasts and consumers alike, following strong demand for the model after its unveiling at the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon (TAS).

The Spirit Racing Roadster represents Mazda’s commitment to internal combustion engines. CEO Masahiro Moro recently emphasized the brand’s intent to continue developing innovative combustion engine technology, including a new rotary engine. This commitment reinforces Mazda’s position in the industry as a leader in both engineering and performance.

Special Edition 12R Model: Limited Production and Performance Enhancements

In addition to the regular production model, Mazda will release a limited edition 12R variant, with only 200 units available. The 12R model will feature performance upgrades such as Bilstein dampers and Brembo brakes, offering a more intense driving experience. Powered by a 2.0L engine, the 12R will deliver 200 horsepower, thanks to enhancements to its intake and exhaust systems, showcasing Mazda’s engineering expertise.

Pricing and Launch Schedule

The regular production model of the Mazda Spirit Racing Roadster is expected to cost around 5 million yen (approximately $32,000). The 12R model will be priced in the late 7 million yen (around $45,000) range. These price points position the Roadster competitively in the high-performance sports car segment.

Reservations for the vehicle will begin in the third quarter of this year, with deliveries slated to start later in the year. Mazda’s quick turnaround time in bringing the Spirit Racing Roadster to market reflects a strategic push to expand its presence in the high-performance market. With its blend of style, performance, and competitive pricing, the Spirit Racing Roadster is expected to attract significant attention and solidify Mazda’s place in the sports car world.
