Hyundai’s Palisade Hybrid has completed emissions and noise certification from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and is set to launch in the year’s second quarter.

Despite being a large SUV, the Palisade Hybrid integrates an advanced hybrid system that delivers a robust performance alongside improved fuel efficiency. This combination has generated significant consumer interest even before its release.

The Palisade Hybrid is equipped with a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 262 horsepower and a six-speed automatic transmission. Combined with the electric motor, the total system output reaches an impressive 334 horsepower, offering a significant performance boost over the existing gasoline model and improving fuel efficiency.

Although the official EPA figures have yet to be released, industry estimates suggest a combined fuel economy of approximately 12.5-14.5 km/L (29-34 mpg). This is remarkably efficient for a vehicle in the large SUV segment.

Similar to other hybrid models, the Palisade Hybrid has earned low-emission vehicle certification. This designation enables owners to benefit from reduced congestion tolls, discounted public parking fees, and potential tax incentives if they meet fuel efficiency standards.

This certification underscores Hyundai’s ability to deliver a large SUV that balances spaciousness and strong performance while being environmentally friendly.

The Palisade Hybrid’s lightest 7-passenger 2WD variant curb weight is 2,165 kg, 180 kg heavier than the equivalent 2.5-liter gasoline model. Due to the added hybrid system components, the heaviest 9-passenger AWD variant weighs 2,260 kg, yet it still achieves improved fuel efficiency.

The vehicle maintains the exact dimensions as the standard model, with a length of 5,060 mm, height of 1,805 mm, width of 1,980 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,970 mm, preserving its spacious interior and practicality.

Pricing for the 9-passenger model ranges from 49.82 million KRW (around $37,365) to 61.86 million KRW (around $46,395), while the 7-passenger model starts at 50.68 million KRW (around $38,010) and tops out at 63.26 million KRW (around $47,445). Fully loaded top-trim models can exceed 70 million KRW (around $52,500). The vehicle’s popularity has resulted in wait times exceeding one year for new orders.

Fully redesigned after six years since its 2018 debut, the Hyundai Palisade has gained widespread popularity due to its spacious interior and refined driving dynamics. The Palisade Hybrid has generated tremendous consumer interest even before its official launch by addressing efficiency concerns typically associated with large SUVs.

With tightening emissions regulations and volatile fuel prices, demand for hybrid vehicles continues to grow. Introducing a hybrid variant to the popular Palisade lineup makes it an even more compelling option in the competitive large SUV segment.

The Hyundai Palisade Hybrid is a highly anticipated model that combines excellent fuel efficiency with the spaciousness that SUV buyers crave. Given the current order backlog, buyers can expect a wait time of approximately one year, underscoring the models’ strong market demand.
