BYD unveiled its groundbreaking Super E-Platform, promising electric vehicle (EV) charging speeds that rival traditional gasoline refueling times. The company also plans to roll out an extensive EV charging network nationwide.
Super E-Platform boasts charging capabilities of up to 1000 kW, nearly doubling the speed of Tesla’s latest Supercharger. BYD’s founder and chairman, Wang Chuanfu, claims that vehicles equipped with this platform can achieve a range of approximately 400 km (250 miles) with just a 5-minute charge.
BYD’s new electric sedan, Han L, and SUV, Tang L, will be the first models to feature this technology. Prices start at 270,000 CNY (approximately $37,300).
BYD plans to construct over 4,000 ultra-fast charging stations throughout China. However, the specifics of the investment and the timeline for this ambitious infrastructure project have not been announced.
