Elon Musk’s involvement with the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has sparked controversy, leading to hostility and aggression towards Tesla owners.
CleanTechnica reports that Musk’s efforts to curtail social security and welfare services through DOGE have made owning a Tesla a political statement.
The Guardian Service surveyed over 500 U.S. Tesla drivers on vandalism, insurance hikes, and regional animosity. Results show 72% feel their vehicles are at high risk, with 44% reporting vandalism. Gen Z owners, especially in their twenties, and the Southern U.S. have been hit hardest.
DOGE’s disregard for privacy regulations and efforts to centralize data from U.S. citizens have fueled controversy. Tesla owners are urging Musk to focus on company operations over political pursuits.
