
On May 2, CNBC reported that Uber is partnering with China’s Momenta to launch robotaxi services beyond the U.S. and China, expanding its global autonomous driving ambitions. The first phase of the service will launch in Europe in early 2026, initially with a safety driver onboard.
According to CNBC, Uber plans to merge its global ride-sharing platform with Momenta’s AI-driven autonomous tech to offer a safe, efficient robotaxi service.
Beijing-based Momenta develops the mass-production-ready M-Pilot driver-assistance system and advances full autonomy through its MSD(Momenta Self Driving) project. CNBC reported the company operates self-driving vehicles across several Chinese cities and partners with major equipment manufacturers. Momenta CEO Xudong Cao stated the partnership completes a vital ecosystem for scaling autonomous driving worldwide.
