On Wednesday, Genesis announced that its Magma Racing team won in the LMP2 class. It secured an impressive second-place overall finish at the 2025 European Le Mans Series (ELMS) season opener in Barcelona, Spain.

The ELMS is a proving ground for endurance racing, including the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans and the World Endurance Championship (WEC). This season will run through October and feature races across six European countries: Spain, France, Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Portugal.
The Le Mans Prototype 2 (LMP2) class is particularly noteworthy, as all teams use identical Oreca 07 chassis and V8 engines. This standardization allows for crucial practice in endurance racing elements such as long-distance driving and traffic management, providing valuable experience for WEC competition.

Genesis entered the competition alongside its racing partner, IDEC Sports, to prepare for the 2026 WEC Hypercar class. The team’s stellar performance resulted in an LMP2 class win and an impressive second-place overall finish.
Jamie Chadwick of Genesis Magma Racing became the first female driver to claim victory in the LMP2 class at an ELMS event, marking a historic moment for the sport.

Genesis Magma Racing will continue its campaign at the “Le Castellet 4 Hours” race at Circuit Paul Ricard in France starting May 4. The team’s ambitious schedule also includes participation in the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans this June, which features top-tier drivers like André Lotterer.
Genesis aims to leverage its participation in this year’s ELMS to gain valuable racing experience and collect crucial endurance technology data. The team plans to use this opportunity to evaluate driver performance and to assemble an optimal lineup for their Hypercar General MotorsR-001 prototype in future competitions.
