After a long wait, Renault’s compact electric SUV, the Scenic E-Tech, is finally set to launch in Korea.

According to the automotive industry, Renault Korea showcased the Scenic at the Busan Mobility Show last June, receiving positive feedback from both professionals and the general public. The company plans to officially launch the vehicle in Korea during the second quarter of this year.

Named “2024 European Car of the Year,” the Scenic has gained symbolic significance, raising expectations for strong sales.

The Scenic measures 4,470 mm in length, 1,864 mm in width, 1,571 mm in height, and has a 2,785 mm wheelbase, making it larger than Kia’s EV3.

Its base trunk capacity is 545 liters, which expands to 1,670 liters when the second-row seats are folded down. The exterior design incorporates Renault’s latest styling elements, giving it a sleek and distinctive appearance.

At the front, a hexagonal grille pattern and flush-type door handles add a modern touch, while the rear design conveys stability and strength.

The Scenic’s interior is packed with cutting-edge technology. An L-shaped 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12-inch vertical center display ensure intuitive usability, and the OpenR Link infotainment system seamlessly integrates with smartphones.

The five-seat configuration prioritizes practicality, offering generous interior space and multiple multifunctional storage areas. Notably, the second-row armrest includes a dedicated holder for smart devices, enhancing convenience.

The Scenic offers two powertrain options based on LG Energy Solution batteries. The Standard trim has a 170-horsepower electric motor and a 60kWh battery, allowing a maximum driving range of up to 420 km on a single charge.

In contrast, the Long Range trim features a 220-horsepower electric motor and an 87kWh battery, which, according to WLTP standards, provides a maximum range of up to 625 km.

In the UK, the Scenic E-Tech is priced at 38,703 euros (approximately $40,653), positioning it between the Hyundai Kona Electric and the Kia EV3.

With its competitive pricing and features, the Scenic has the potential to capture a significant market share and challenge Hyundai’s Kona Electric and Kia’s EV3.
