Volkswagen and Audi Recall Over 60,000 Vehicles Due to Transmission Issue

On Thursday, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) released an investigation stating that 60,490 vehicles, including the 2021-2023 model Volkswagen ID.4 and 2022-2023 Audi Q4 e-trons, are being recalled in the United States.

The Volkswagen recall report reveals a defect in which the vehicle fails to notify the driver when the transmission is in neutral under certain conditions.

The issue has been traced to the brake control unit. While vehicles with software updates installed after October 2023 have resolved the problem, those manufactured earlier still face a potential collision risk.

Volkswagen submitted the recall notice to NHTSA on February 26 and plans to notify all affected owners by April 25.
