The Best Design in the World

With its spoiler that sticks out like cat ears and headlights that resemble lion claws, Peugeot’s new 3008 Hybrid leaves a strong impression at first glance. It feels as if a beast has quietly infiltrated the city.

This SUV, which combines French sensibility, electrification technology, and design philosophy, is not just a new vehicle, but is set as the model that symbolizes the brand’s identity.

The Stage Set for the 3008 by the 408 Craze

In 2024, Peugeot sold a total of 947 units in Korea, ranking 16th among imported car brands.

Of these, the 408 model accounted for 42.1%. The combination of a coupe-type SUV style, reasonable price range, and gasoline engine was successful for domestic consumers.

Peugeot’s strategy is not to end this trend as a one-time success. Building on the success of the 408, the new 3008 model is aimed at a wider consumer base.

In Europe, electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) are the mainstays, but in South Korea, a gasoline-based 48V mild hybrid model will be introduced first. This is a choice that meets the realistic demands of the South Korean market.

A Redesigned SUV with a Premium Strategy

In the case of the 3008, it is a redesigned model based on Peugeot’s latest electrification platform, STLA Medium, and its sleek coupe-like silhouette and three-dimensional front design give it a more sophisticated feel.

In terms of the body, it is 4,542 mm (178.8 inches) in length and 2,739 mm (107.8 inches) in wheelbase, slightly shorter and lower than the Hyundai Tucson, but the interior space is more spacious.

The front grille is full of patterns, and Peugeot’s signature three-line claw-shaped daytime running lights (DRL) leave a strong impression, while the taillights in the shape of lion’s claws and the cat-ear-shaped spoiler with chrome lines at the rear catch the eye.

Driver-centered Interior and Hybrid Technology

The interior is designed around a 21-inch curved display, creating a futuristic feel. In addition, the instrument panel is placed on top of the compact steering wheel, which is Peugeot’s signature, to improve visibility, and the i-Toggle display, wireless charging pad, and ventilation, heating, and massage seats add to the luxurious feel.

The rear seats and trunk space are also spacious. The trunk can be expanded from the basic 520 liters to a maximum of 1,482 liters, and the panoramic sunroof provides an excellent sense of openness.

The combined fuel efficiency is expected to be over 19 km per liter (44.7 mpg), and it is possible to drive about 550 km (342 miles) on a single tank. The final figure will be confirmed through certification by the Ministry of Environment.

The Launch in the Second Half of 2025.

The new 3008 is produced in France and will be available for sale in Europe from late 2025. It is expected to be launched in South Korea in mid-2025, and the price is expected to be around 32,923 USD, slightly higher than the existing 30,203 USD.

In the future, an EV model equipped with a large-capacity 98kWh battery, a high-performance 320-horsepower all-wheel drive version, and a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model are expected to be sequentially introduced.

Peugeot is now ready to create a 3008 syndrome by taking over the 408 effect.
