Kia unveiled its flagship electric sports utility vehicle (SUV) EV9 Nightfall Edition for the first time in the world at the world’s largest automobile exhibition, the 2025 New York International Auto Show. The new K4 hatchback model with maximized practicality was also unveiled for the first time.

Kia announced on April 16 that it participated in the 2025 New York International Auto Show held at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York.

At the event, Kia unveiled its flagship electric SUV EV9 Nightfall Edition for the first time in the world. Kia has newly applied the Nightfall package to existing SUVs such as the Seltos, Sportage, and Telluride to the EV9, further enhancing the luxury and identity of the brand’s electrified lineup.

The EV9 Nightfall Edition emphasizes its individuality by applying Nightfall Edition-exclusive black details and a new color, Roadrider Brown, to the entire exterior, including the front grille, skid plate, and lower door. The interior presents a sophisticated atmosphere through a black interior theme and elaborate stitching details.

In particular, the model is equipped with a boost function, increasing the maximum torque from 61.3 kgf·m to 71.3 kgf·m. The maximum output based on the dual motor demonstrates excellent acceleration performance, reaching 100 km/h (60 mph) in 5.3 seconds from a standstill.

In addition, the EV9 Nightfall Edition adopts the North American Charging Standard (NACS) suitable for the local consumer environment, enabling the use of the Tesla Supercharger network. The existing Combined Charging Standard (CCS) network can also be used with the additionally provided adapter.

Kia expects the EV9 Nightfall Edition to further solidify Kia’s competitiveness in the next-generation electric SUV market by combining powerful acceleration, agile driving performance, and SUV-specific practicality. The EV9 Nightfall Edition is scheduled to be sold in the US market starting in the second quarter of this year.

Kia also unveiled the new K4 hatchback model for the first time in the world. The K4 hatchback inherits the convenience features and sporty design of the K4 and maximizes practicality by securing a wide interior space. The model has a dynamic roofline, a hidden rear door handle on the C pillar, and exclusive exterior color Sparkling Yellow.

The second row of the K4 hatchback has the best-in-class legroom and headroom and a loading capacity of 628 liters (ℓ). The K4 hatchback will be sold in the US market starting in the fourth quarter of 2025 in various trims, including EX, GT-Line, and GT-Line Turbo.

Kia also unveiled its first electrified sedan, the EV4, for the first time in North America. The EV4 is a compact EV sedan that meets various customer needs, such as innovative design and technology, practicality, and driving range, and is suitable for both urban and suburban environments.

Kia will display a total of 21 vehicles, including the EV6, Telluride, Sorento, and Sportage, in a 19,041 square feet (1,769 m²) space during the New York Auto Show.

Eric Watson, vice president of sales at Kia America, stated that despite ongoing uncertainty in the auto industry, Kia is pursuing a consistent strategy. He noted that the company plans to offer consumers a wide range of options by effectively integrating advanced electric vehicles with internal combustion engine models.
