Chinese automaker BYD is set to release the Han L and Tang L, electric vehicles equipped with megawatt-class charging capabilities that can add 250 miles of driving range in just five minutes.
According to EV media outlet InsideEVs on Thursday, while the maximum charging power for most EVs in the U.S. market remains around 350–400 kW, BYD stated that its new models can charge at more than twice that power.
The Han L starts at approximately $28,500, which is significantly lower than the previously announced price of approximately $38,200. It will be available in three trims, with the top-tier model priced at around $39,170. All versions come equipped with BYD’s 83.2 kWh Blade Battery and offer an official range between 373 miles and 436 miles.
BYD is also developing the Tang L, a mid-size crossover SUV based on the 1,000-volt Super E-Platform. The Tang L offers a similar performance to the Han L, with pricing starting at about $31,300 and reaching up to approximately $39,600.
