The 2025 G6 electric SUV unveiled by Chinese EV brand XPeng immediately impacted the automotive market, selling 5,000 units within just seven minutes of launch.

The model has been praised for exceeding expectations in every area, from technology and price to design and performance.

Bulletproof Battery and 12-Minute Charging Power

The G6’s success is based on its battery. The battery has 5C ultra-fast charging technology and can charge from 10% to 80% in 12 minutes.

XPeng has nicknamed the battery “bulletproof” due to its durability under extreme conditions. It boasts resistance to -30°C (-22°F) cold, 1,000°C (1832°F) heat, side impacts of up to 80 tons, and bottom shocks of 2,000 joules.

These features address two of the biggest concerns for EV users: battery safety and long charging wait times.

In particular, upgrading from the conventional 3C to 5C charging speed is seen as a technological milestone in the industry, meeting the demands of both long-distance travel and daily commuting.

Lower Price, Higher Performance

Price plays a decisive role in the EV market. The G6’s base model starts at approximately $24,400. The mid-tier trim costs around $25,770, and the flagship model is about $27,400. This makes the G6 about 11% more affordable on average than Tesla’s Model Y.

Despite the lower price, the G6 offers improved driving performance. The base model can travel 625 kilometers (388 miles) on a single charge, while the flagship model achieves up to 725 kilometers (450 miles) under the CLTC standard.

The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.3 seconds. All trims feature a single rear motor generating 292 horsepower and 45.9 kgf·m of torque.

Autonomous Driving Takes a Leap Forward

XPeng has equipped the G6 with its self-developed Turing AI autonomous driving platform.

Based on a 40-core chipset, the platform consolidates three previously separate high-performance processors into one. As a result, data processing speed has increased by 12 times and bandwidth by 33 times.

Turing AI supports stable autonomous driving not only in complex urban environments but also on highways. XPeng believes this system lays the foundation for future Level 4 full autonomy.

Additional features, such as a 9-inch digital center mirror, upgraded interior materials, and seats with massage functions, elevate the cabin experience, offering comfort and quality that rivals or exceeds typical mid-size SUVs.
